David Goldsmith

The Professor

David had always worked as a mechanic to make a living while he worked towards getting his 4 year college degree at City College, CUNY. Additionally, David studied Automotive Technology at NYC Technical College, CUNY. As a result, he became an ASE Certified Master Technician. Dissatisfied with the lack of customer service in his field and as an attempt to spark change, David established Urban Classics Auto Repair in 1991. In addition to creating and building Urban Classics Auto, David has dedicated himself to improving public education. He served for many terms as the President of the Community Education Council for NYC Public School District 13 in Brooklyn. David has also taught as an Adjunct Professor in the Automotive Program at Bronx Community College. For almost 30 years David has been a weekly regular as an automotive guest expert on the Auto Lab Radio Show which continues to advocate for improved trade education in the United States.

Jeff Alon

The Transmissions Guru

Jeff is our in house transmissions expert, with over 40 years of experience and expertise in the transmission and driveline end of the business Jeff brings to the table not only his knowledge but his humor. Jeff is the owner and operator of The New York Transmission Group, which consists of 3 of the busiest shops in the tristate area, all merged to create the “group”.
As the lead of NYTG he provides superior customer service paired with excellent technical skills from actual rebuilding, installing and diagnosing experience, on the most complicated system in your car. Ian Karr

The Restorer

Ian is our producer and our resident DIY mechanic. When not producing and directing content for his production company, IKA Collective, Ian’s passion is collector cars of the 60s, 70s and 80s. He restores them in his home garage and on his YouTube channel (YouTube.com/iankarr).

Mike Porcelli

The Automotive Craftsman

Mike Porcelli teaches Automotive-Technology part-time at Bronx Community College. He holds every ASE Master-Certification, as well as many other industry credentials, and is still going to school – to keep current on new technology. He repairs vehicles at his 72-year-old family business, where he began learning his craft at age five. For decades he’s been an automotive-consultant, an expert-witness in court and radio & TV, and an adviser to many education programs. He is currently on a mission to improve Trade-Education, and encouraging students to enter those programs.

Robert Erskine

The Sculpter

Robert - BA(Hons) MA FRSS OBA - is an English sculptor and industrial designer. He is a patent holder and Fellow of the Royal Society of Sculptors UK. Robert joins us as an accredited automotive broadcaster for BBC & BBC Radio Suffolk, loves all things mechanical, is an automotive mechanic and member of IMPA - International Motor Press Association.

Ivan Anderson

The Techy

Ivan is an Assistant Professor at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft NJ. Ivan graduated with a Bachelor degree in Automotive Technology Management from Penn College of Technology, and a Masters in Career and Technical Education from Ball State University. He owned Ivan's Automotive Service, INC. from 1998 to 2006. Started in Metuchen NJ and Moved to Edison NJ in 2004. He is passionate about cars, cars, and cars.
